Jeff finally went fishing this year, after his broken ankle episode, on the Verdict III in the Ludington Gander Mountain Off Shore Classic. They placed 8th overall finish in the pro division. This was in spite of numerous mishaps throughout the 2 days. They had fun and stuck together as a team!!! Way to go Verdict III

“Walleye 101 Bay Bash” (July 17-20)

The third Walleye101 Trophy Hunt of the year was a great success to say the least.

The fishing was FANTASTIC.

Lance Valentine gave everyone GPS coordinates as well as a recommending a lure program starting point and many boats limited out in two hours or less.

The walleye were running 17”-23” long and it did not take long for everyone to catch their limit of Walleye each of the three days...

The participants exchanged new trolling techniques every evening after dinner and then applied them the next day on the water.

The unique aspect of a “WALLEYE 101 Trophy Hunt” is the OPEN sharing of information that takes place.

EVERYONE shares information regarding location (GPS coordinates), fish length, lure type, lure color, speed, lead length, etc. for each fish caught. WOW!

Lance Valentine is a great educator and went to great lengths to explain why some programs worked better than others did.

A special “Thank you” to Chris and Doug Deming and the staff at Fish Point Lodge for the GREAT food, comfortable surroundings and warm hospitality.

From the steak dinner on Friday to the over the top Fish Fry on Saturday (with home made Carrot Cake) we were really taken care of.

Eleven-year-old Jacob Phillingham was the “Big Fish” winner Friday and Jacobs dad Brian, took “Big Fish” honors Saturday. It could be that Jacob is a good teacher, or that Dad is a fast learner. Congratulations to you both!

We would also like to say Thanks to David “Double D” DuFresne and Jimmy “Wisconsin” Stewart for putting up with Greg Ellison from Traxstech all weekend. Yes, patience is indeed a virtue.

The next Trophy Hunt will be on Lake Erie for some monster walleye.

Greg Ellison from Traxstech will be there to assist you with any rigging questions as well as doing on-site installations.

The fall “Trophy Hunts” tend to produce larger fish than the spring, as the fish have all summer to feed and fatten up for winter and the spring spawning run.

Having said that, remember that a 12 pound 12 ounce fish took big fish on the second day of the April “Trophy Hunt”.

Are you looking to become a better walleye angler and like to LEARN in a relaxed atmosphere and then apply what you have learned?

If so, check out www.walleye101.com .

We hope to see you at the fish cleaning station,

Jim “Wisconsin” Stewart and David “Double D” DuFresne with another Saginaw Bay walleye caught trolling crank baits behind inline planner boards.
